Oneness with Strength
Lesson  2  of   3

strenght 3.jpg

Jesus is said to have indicated the “...kingdom of God is at hand” in our midst. When we understand the divine is a living reality everywhere present, we begin to understand how to work with the divine potential in all. Let’s explore how humans and the rest of creation work together in realizing the divine strength to realize answers and solutions as the divine design to live, thrive, and flourish. In so doing, we actualize the Christ instruction to pray in this way.

Lord’s Prayer: Matthew 6:9-13

The overall strength of the human body and the planet as living bodies is directly related to the integrity of interdependent, dynamic systems. If one system, such as the respiratory system of the body of the human or that of the earth, is challenged, the other systems are affected. But wholeness is assured, and healing is possible due to the design and genius of interconnected systems to endure. This interconnectedness is also interdependent. It is the design of Oneness, the integraceous Wholeness supporting the parts.

An important contribution to the integrity of Oneness/Wholeness is the human ability to spiritually discern new ideas and then imagine strategies for innovating. Whether we are caring scientists or caring individuals walking into a grocery store, ideas for health, such as reducing packaging or designing biodegradable packaging, are waiting to be discerned through the ‘heart-mind’ of each person. As we work within the ‘kingdom of God’, claiming divine ideas to put into action, we experience strength. Despair and apathy no longer chain our creative energy and potential! We are freed and strengthened, knowing new options, possibilities, and the enduring power of the spiritual to take the next steps guided and directed by love and wisdom.

The earth and the cosmos also inspire ideas, for there is no spot where living intelligence (omniscience) is not. In the module on the spiritual power of Love, we discussed the concept and practice of “biomimicry.” The term “biomimicry” refers to viewing nature as a model, mentor, and measure, and asks how we as humans can, like other species, create conditions conducive to life. Often, we employ biomimicry because we recognize the inherent strength in nature’s designs. For example, green architecture utilizes ideas for living roofs that are inspired by trees that breathe in carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen.

Velcro was created when a man named George De Mestral took his dog for a walk in the woods, and both came back covered in cockleburs. De Mestral wondered how the tenacious little burs held on so strongly. As he examined them, he noted their ability to cling to fabric or fur, then unfurl and release and still be able to snap back into shape. The strength is in the grip the release, and flexibility.

We might not think of a termite as particularly strong, but in numbers, using their collective intelligence, they do amazing things. Termite dens might not look like someplace we’d want to live, but they are surprisingly comfortable homes. While the temperature outside swings wildly throughout the day from lows in the 30s to highs over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the inside of a termite den holds steady at a wonderful termite temperature of 87 degrees.

Architect Mick Pearce studied the cooling chimneys and tunnels of termite dens and applied those lessons to the 333,000-square-foot Eastgate Centre. The building uses 90 percent less energy to heat and cool than traditional buildings. Its large chimneys naturally draw in cool air at night to lower the temperature of the floor slabs, just like termite dens. During the day, these slabs retain coolness, greatly reducing the need for supplemental air conditioning.

Whales are incredibly strong swimmers with amazing stamina. Scientists at Duke University, West Chester University, and the U.S. Naval Academy discovered that the bumps on the front edge of whale fins greatly increase their efficiency in swimming and maneuvering, reducing drag by 32 percent and increasing lift by 8 percent. This design brilliance has been applied to wind turbine blades, cooling fans, airplane wings, and propellers.

As spiritual beings, Strength is one of our divine birthrights, and examples of Divine Strength are all around us in the magic of Creation. This strength is always available to us, wherever we are, within and without. Our way of strength and enduring integrity are always assured.
