Imagination is a Wonderful and Creative Power
Lesson  2  of   3

Charles and Myrtle Fillmore

Our founders knew that imagination would always be an essential component of humans’ creative expression.

"The imagination is a wonderful creative power. It builds all things out of the one substance. When you associate it with faith, you make things just as real as those that God makes, for humanity is a co-creator with God. Whatever you form in the mind and have faith in will become substantial."

Charles Fillmore

We may be humbled (or surprised) to realize that both individually and communally, we are co-creators with the Divine, with the Source of the Universe! Humanity has evolved such that we have a significant influence on Earth’s very evolution - and it is irresponsible of us to ignore the significant impact we have on our planet’s future and our well-being.

Humanity’s impact on our planet has scientists noting that we have now moved on from a geologic epoch called the Holocene epoch (that began 11,500 years ago at the end of the last ice age) and are ushering in an entirely new Anthropocene epoch – a time signified by the impact humanity is having on our Earth4. The largest marker for human impact on the planet is the increase in the CO2 in the atmosphere, which is a major driver for the rapidly changing climate. We really are, as C. Fillmore said, co-creating our world with God.

The positive news is that, as Charles Fillmore said, we have the capacity to use our imaginations, aligned with a positive vision and coherent with life-affirming faith, to imagine a world that is vital, healthy, and life-affirming. Allowing our minds to harmonize with Divine Mind we co-create and co-evolve a world that works for all life.

I.D.E.A

We give our imaginations more room to roam, explore, and investigate creative ideas when we peel away our biases and entertain a greater diversity of possibilities. Even ideas that may at first seem to be crazy, fictional, fantastic, or unachievable, may turn out to be catalysts for newer and expanded notions that are just the things we need!

Breaking through our entrenched beliefs and the biases (that we all have!) is challenging yet consider the possibilities when we open our minds to unexamined imaginings!

What new project, relationship, adventure, vacation, position, offering, or work can you imagine? It all starts with allowing our imagination to be inclusive of ideas that lay beyond our current mental horizons. We listen for the insights from the Spirit to guide us.

Sharing between people of different worldviews is a significant benefit of diversity in our communities - a wider range of life experiences, languages, and cultural insights inspires an entirely new realm of perspectives to explore. Engaging in political issues, rallies, and demonstrations.

The value of I.D.E.A. is critical given our need for new solutions for living sustainably on our climate-changing Earth – and She is calling for all the imaginative capacity humanity can harness!

Tree Planting Activity

Earth Herself offers us examples of infinite varieties of life, and amazing evolutionary systems that know how to grow, change, thrive, and live with vitality. When we are paying attention, Earth sparks our human imaginations with a challenge.

She says: “Do you see the multitude of ways that I have compelled an abundance of life to emerge? Expand your view, dive deep into your creativity, and match my designs and creativity.“ For example, our scientists can be inspired by Earth’s promptings and imagine ways for our society to best use wind, sunlight, forests, species, carbon cycles, ocean currents, and water cycles to energize our human world, as they do the natural world.

Each of us can join in the creative process, pray and encourage the specialists in their work, and do a diversity of simple things for the beneficial evolution of our planet. Each step not only advances us toward new vitality but also supports the beneficial evolution of our consciousness.

Evolutionary Thinking / Being

The human mind’s capacity to imagine and then out-picture thoughts into a manifest world is a powerful component of Earth’s evolution as expressed through our human mind system. So, let’s imagine how we might transform our lives and the planet now so that our future friends, families, and communities can live in a vibrant, healthy, and life-enhancing Earth in the future.

Claim yourself as an evolutionary pioneer, boldly moving forward to imagine new and more sustainable ways to express our work and all aspects of our lives that are aligned with Earth and human flourishing.

Wherever each of us is on our life’s journey, we have a contribution to make; it’s not just the job of perceived experts.  We ALL join in this harmonious evolutionary unfolding of all beings.

It's a new name for a new geologic epoch-one defined by our own massive impact on the planet. That mark will endure in the geologic record long after our cities have crumbled.

Here is a brief personal message from Earth Care Core Team member, Beth Remmes, about Earth and the power of Imagination.
