Are You Tired Yet?

After participating in community clean-ups and connecting with government leaders, you may need to rest and recharge.  That’s the third action to take as you engage the faculty of zeal in service to the environment.

Each of our spiritual powers requires maintenance, and zeal, like a rechargeable battery, sometimes needs to be put in the recharger.  Additionally, in considering the enormity of the ecological challenges facing the world today, your zeal faculty may take a hit.

In prayer, we set aside our concerns and center ourselves in the awareness that “wherever we are God is.”  We also ground ourselves in the knowledge that there is no shortage of divine ideas for good and that everyone is a conduit for them.  This includes scientists, legislators, and people like you.  Someone once asked, “Do you tell God how big your problems are, or do you tell your problems how big your God is?”  Divine ideas are of no use if we are too tired to give them feet.

Ultimately, for the good of the earth, you must take care of your own spirit, and there are a rich variety of spiritual practices available to you to ensure your well-being, and to renew your faculty of zeal. Be open to trying new practices to keep your spirit healthy and strong.
